Members of Hexham Space 4 Nature assisted by student Gracie completed this year’s survey of the grasslands at Highford Park. Northumberland County Council is working with HS4N to adopt grass cutting practices that encourage greater diversity of native wildflowers so providing pollen and nectar resources for insects. We’ll report back on the results but for the moment here are some images of the vegetation looking very colourful and a couple of foraging insects. There  were also lots of Ringlet butterflies around but moving too fast to catch on camera!
