HOW WE’RE RUN

HOW WE'RE RUN

We are all volunteers

Everyone at Transition Tynedale is a volunteer, and everyone is welcome. We have no paid staff.

At the same time, as a responsible UK limited (and not for profit) company, part of the UK and international Transition Towns movement, we need appropriate structures for decision-making and so that we can safeguard our many volunteers.

If you want to find out more about our Articles of Association and governance documents, here are the links to those details, which include the responsibilities of our directors.

Governance & Transparency

We are committed to transparency and community engagement. You can access our annual reports, meeting minutes, and balance sheets to stay informed about our initiatives and financial health. These documents are available for your review, reflecting our dedication to open communication and accountability.

Starting a new project

If anyone wants to start a new project, then we’re here to support you – so long as your project idea fits with the aims of the Transition movement and tackles an element of climate change impact.

If you’re thinking of starting a new project, have a chat with one of the directors, outlining what you’re thinking of doing and checking if fits with Transition Tynedale aims. Make sure your project has a nominated ‘leader’ and read brief notes below.

In brief, the project leader or his/her nominees, is responsible for:

  • Regularly updating TT directors on the progress of the project.
  • All safeguarding issues, as per our Safeguarding Policy (PDF download).
  • Accounting to the Transition Tynedale treasurer for any expenditure received from TT, keeping and providing all receipts when requested.
  • Producing a risk assessment of any planned activity to Transition Tynedale directors before that activity takes place.
  • Keeping a list of volunteers for the project and their contact details which observes data protection rules.
  • Ensuring that the project’s website entry is kept up to date by recording its progress including with images as appropriate.

So How can I get involved?

Transition Tynedale is entirely reliant on the energy and commitment of our volunteers to make its projects happen.
