Environmental Round Table
The Environmental Round Table is an important new forum for sharing ideas with our local MP, Joe Morris.
Around the table are representatives from a great variety of regional environmental groups, including Transition Tynedale, all of who are passionate about tackling the climate and biodiversity emergency.
All groups share the aim of making a practical differences in their locality but – as important – sharing their views and having discussions with Joe, who in turn, shares feedback from his representations in Parliament.
Changing how we source energy for our needs, and move away from fossil fuels, is critical and forms part of our ongoing discussions at this forum.
Where do we go from here ?
The generation of energy for genuine community benefit has always been an aim of Transition Tynedale. However the cost of major schemes is high and we no longer have the capacity to pursue them on our own.
However, we all need to find ways to encourage a circular economy.
Since we lack the capacity to do that on our own, our approach is to partner with others and use our expertise where we can at inclusive talks and meetings, such as our Autumn Gathering, Hexham’s Climate Cafe, and The Future is Now.
