About Transition Tynedale

Transition Tynedale is a local group that has been active since 2008. It is part of the international Transition network. 

We’re a company limited by guarantee run entirely by volunteers. Find out more under How We’re Run.

Our aim is to be inclusive, positive and enabling.

Our overall purpose is to promote projects which help our area, a very special part of Northumberland, mitigate the impact of the climate change and biodiversity emergencies.

Our current project areas are Food, Energy, Nature and Repair. Just click to find out more about the projects currently running in each category and how you can be involved. We’ve worked on many projects previously and always welcome new volunteers, energy and ideas.

I joined Transition Tynedale a year ago, drawn by their commitment to sustainability and community. Being part of the Energy project has been incredibly rewarding; not only have I contributed to increasing our area's use of renewable sources, but I've also gained a wealth of knowledge about energy conservation.

What stands out most, however, is the sense of community and shared purpose. It's more than just volunteering; it's being part of a movement that's making a tangible difference in Northumberland.
